I have now spent so many days in Africa over the last 12 years that I have finally lost count! I know that I have spent over 300 days exclusively in the Serengeti, Tanzania. I Love it, I Love it, I Love it, I still cannot get enough and I love to share my experience with everyone!

I have been blessed with sighting over 2500 lions, 250 cheetahs and 300 leopards. I have seen at least one leopard daily for so many days in a row on so many trips that I know I have a special affinity for them and want to believe that it is mutual. I still remember seeing five different leopards in one day! The leopard count is very significant, as some travelers on Safari never get the opportunity to see even one leopard.

I have always been an animal lover and enjoyed the beauty found in nature. Born in Bellingham, Washington in 1953, raised and educated in the Pacific Northwest in the state of Washington, I graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1979.

I started taking pictures while taking a self-instructional media course as a requirement for my teaching degree. A Nikomat 35mm SLR opened a new avenue of vision. A few years later with a Nikon FE, I started taking photos of sunsets, whales, wildflowers, fire dancers and then Africa. A self taught photographer, full of fire and passion for Africa, I want to get closer, capturing a perspective that makes you want more, makes you want to get closer, to wonder just how close you can get and just how close did I get?

As a friendly, spontaneous, middle age, single female traveler, I meet a lot of people and have been compared to Georgia O'Keefe, Ossa Johnson, Margaret Kinsley, and Merle Streep from Out Of Africa.

Why should you consider having me plan your safari?

I am presently a Safari Sales Consultant for Africa Dream Safaris. I also am a Specialized Safari Guide. I focus on the Predators of the Serengeti, with a specialized emphasis on the Leopards. I am called Mama Simba (Lion Lady) and Mama Chui (Leopard Lady) in Tanzania, recognized, known by and have personal relationships with many guides, managers and staff from many tour companies, lodges and camps. I am also a world renown African Wildlife and African Cultural Photographer. I have done slide show presentations to people from all around the world for several consecutive years, have had many professional one person exhibits and presently have over 50- 20x30 and 30x50 photographs on exhibit at The Oakland Zoo (January 2007-April 2007). I also teach a course at the local college titled "Everything You Need to Know Before You Go on Safari".

I have been going to Africa for over 11 years and have been to Africa more than 20 times, most of which were custom safaris specifically in Tanzania, so I also have extensive specialized safari and travel experience in those areas. I love Tanzania and have spent most of my time in the Serengeti. I have spent as much as 60 days at one time in the Serengeti alone, spent 3 months in one year and as many as four personal /professional trips in a six month period of time. My first safari was to Kenya with a group, my second to Tanzania with a group and all of the rest have been custom safaris. In addition to Tanzania and Kenya, I have been to Uganda, Swaziland, Malawi, South Africa, The Gambia, Senegal and The Cape Verde Islands. I do mission trips as well and I personally have been in the war zone several times in northern Uganda as a peace advocate, helping refugees and internally displaced people. I have also been with the United Nations, several times, documenting the refugee camp in Kakuma in northern Kenya where all of the refugees from Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Congolese, Sudanese and Somalia's enter the country for safety. So I have first hand knowledge and experience in those areas, keeping current and up to date regarding the political climate and happenings in those countries as well.

I was in the hospitality industry for over 20 years working for a destination resort hotelier on the east coast. I have an in-depth background in hotel management, hotel design, remodeling, renovations, customer service and customer satisfaction. This comes in particularly useful when I personally visit and inspect all of the properties we recommend. I see first hand new properties, make sure that the other properties are still well maintained, see what changes have been made, properties renovated, scheduled future upgrades and to insure that the quality of service, food and hospitality is continuing to be of those standards that we expect. I also evaluate the level of service that we offer, our fleet of stretch land rovers, vehicle maintenance, all of our staff and expert guides, making sure that we continue to provide everything essential to making your safari a wonderful experience that will exceed your expectations.

I love what I do and would do it whether I got paid or not. It is not about making the sale, it's not about me making money.

It is about sharing a passion for a country and it's people who I love, admire and respect and I want you to as well.

I do not promise what I cannot deliver and I am not here to twist your arm to get you to come on safari with me or to have me plan your safari regardless of whether it is a good fit or not.

It's about believing and knowing, what I can do and what Africa Dream Safaris can do for you and whether or not, what we have to offer, will fulfill all of your dreams and desires for your Tanzania safari experience.

With all of this being said, I am looking forward to hearing from you and continuing to refine your safari plans to fit every need and desire you have. I know that you will enjoy and cherish your safari memories as much as I have mine and I can deliver your Africa Dream Safari that will exceed your expectations.
